An example of a loggerhead sea turtle was found on Friday entangled in plastic ropes on the beach in Bajamar, in the municipality of La Laguna on the island of Tenerife. The turtle also had bindings marks in various parts of its body.
Upon locating the animal, the Coordination Centre for Emergencies and Security (Cecoes) 112 was called for someone to come and take care of the turtle. Subsequently, officers from the Local Police of La Laguna arrived at the beach to take charge of the turtle and transported it to the La Tahonilla wildlife recovery centre where it will be treated and freed from the ropes that were hindering its movement.
