The City Council of Granadilla, in collaboration with the Civil Guard and the Provincial Coastal Service, conducted the eviction of 45 illegal settlements along the coast of the municipality.
The operation involved a total of 25 officers from the Local Police and the Civil Guard, who identified 45 unauthorized settlements in the areas of La Mareta and Charco del Clérigo.
Sermugran, the municipal company, deployed 35 workers who were responsible for clearing out belongings and other waste from the area. The substantial amount of waste required the use of eight trucks to remove it from the coastal strip, as stated in an official announcement by the City Council.
Carmen Dolores Rodríguez, the councillor overseeing Special Security, commended the seamless operation, crediting the excellent coordination between the Local Police and the Civil Guard for ensuring the success of the eviction process.
Additionally, notification of the eviction order was issued to nearly 100 residents, predominantly European nationals, in the coastal area on March 13. This proactive measure facilitated the operation as most of the dwellings were unoccupied during the eviction process.
The operation, which resulted in a single arrest, proceeded smoothly without the presence of any minors being detected.
