SANTA CRUZ DE TENERIFE, 18th March (EUROPA PRESS) –
The Institute of Canarian Studies in La Laguna will be hosting the ‘CoopEra 2024’ transformative cooperative meeting this Thursday, starting at 4:30 p.m. The event aims to showcase the potential of this cooperative system and is open to all individuals, groups, and interested entities.
Registration is available at this link https://forms.gle/fc6R5WXTGj5nTpD19 until Wednesday.
Having started its journey across the Canary Islands in La Palma, ‘CoopEra 2024’ will present in Tenerife the ongoing initiatives in transformative cooperativism, aiming to attract individuals interested in entrepreneurship, companies, and existing cooperatives looking to transition to this model. This model aligns with the principles of the Social and Solidarity Economy: promoting decent work, equity, environmental sustainability, cooperation, environmental commitment, and fair wealth redistribution.
The programme will kick off at 4:30 p.m. with the institutional involvement of the Canarian Employment Service (SCE) and the La Laguna City Council, followed by a brief introduction on ‘Transformative Cooperativism and the Social and Solidarity Economy in the Canary Islands’, according to the organizers.
Subsequently, various associated worker cooperatives and consumer cooperatives already operating in the islands will share their experiences in establishment, management, as well as the products and services they offer in sectors such as housing, energy, consulting, or social work.
Additionally, information will be provided on two resources supporting entrepreneurship in the Social and Solidarity Economy: the Canarina School of the Canarina Foundation, and the Juana Millán School of Entrepreneurs, a project promoted across the Canary Islands by Red Anagos.
Throughout the event, participants will have the opportunity to exchange knowledge, address queries, and discuss interests in a participatory format with members of participating cooperatives.
The organizers highlight this as a new chance to gather, delve into how this cooperative system operates, and be inspired to initiate projects in line with this transformative cooperative model.
This model places the economy in service of individuals and communities, enabling various activities in diverse fields, ranging from housing to energy, including agroecology, ethical finance, consulting, and social work, among others.
The project ‘CoopEra 2024, Promotion of Transformative Cooperativism in the Canary Islands’, is an initiative of the Red Anagos Transformative Cooperativism Commission, funded by the Canarian Employment Service (SCE), in collaboration with Escuela Canarina (of the Fundación Canarina), Teyra, Office of Civic Innovation (OFIC), Agroecological Office, Tenergética, Energía Bonita, and Aeatec.
