Las Palmas Atlético shakes up the top of the Canarian group in the Third RFEF. The yellow victory in the minor derby at the Anexo against leaders Tenerife B by 2-0 tightens the fight for the top spot, which grants direct promotion. The subsidiary of UD moves up to second in the table tied on points with Lanzarote, both just two points behind the Tenerife team. Now in fourth place is Yaiza, three units behind the leaders.
Dani Ojeda opened the scoring for Las Palmas Atlético midway through the first half. In the second half, Tenerife B improved their performance, creating chances to equalize, but the expulsion of Otero affected the Whites and Blues. Pau Ferrer, towards the end of the match, sealed the deal.
Both teams exchanged control of the game, with the yellow reserve team trying to build up play from the back against a rival exerting intense pressure on the home team’s ball out. Before the quarter-hour mark, the Gran Canarian team had the first clear chance. A header by Elías at the near post, from a corner taken by Diego Martín, was securely stopped by Tenerife’s goalkeeper Moha Ramos.
As the first half progressed, Las Palmas Atlético found themselves more comfortable on the Anexo pitch. As a result, the score became 1-0. In the 24th minute, a header by Dani Ojeda from a corner kick found the net after touching the ball off the White and Blue player Raúl.
With the score in their favor, Raúl Martín’s team continued to dominate, looking very dangerous on set-piece actions. Meanwhile, the Tenerife squad struggled to create good passing plays to threaten the Castellonense goalkeeper Nacho Nicolau’s domain.
In the 40th minute, Tenerife B had their best chance of the first half. A low shot by Otero was stopped by Nicolau. Before the break, a dangerous inswinging delivery by Jesús Belza, following a corner kick routine, narrowly missed the home team’s post.
After halftime, the Tenerife reserve team seemed to improve with the changes made by their coach Mazinho, who brought in Adrián and Cacho. The visitors looked more aggressive, allowing them to have a couple of chances to equalize, but Salifo, after a pass from César, saw his two consecutive attempts saved by good stops from Nicolau. In the 62nd minute, a cross from Lie on the right flank was met by Adrián inside the box, but without consequences for Las Palmas Atlético’s goal.
Tenerife B dominated, constantly threatening the yellow team’s goal, which allowed them a clear chance to draw level on the Anexo scoreboard. Once again, Salifo was the protagonist; this time the striker’s shot didn’t find the home goal.

The second half belonged to the visiting team. In the 67th minute, a shot from the Palmero player Cacho went over the bar. However, four minutes later, Mazinho’s team was reduced to ten men by the expulsion of Otero, who received his second yellow card for a challenge on Andy.
With a player less on the field, the Whites and Blues saw Las Palmas Atlético increase their lead. In a solo effort, Chechu got past several defenders to connect a shot, in a goalmouth scenario, only to be denied by a crucial save from Moha Ramos.
In the 83rd minute, the UD reserve team succeeded in sealing the deal. A poor back pass by Cacho was seized upon by top scorer Pau Ferrer to beat the Tenerife team’s goalkeeper low. Five minutes later, the local keeper Nicolau made a crucial save to divert Salifo’s clear attempt for a corner kick.
