Fred. Olsen Express anticipates that this Easter more than 140,000 individuals will be journeying on its routes, and in total, it will be conducting 620 trips during this period. These trip figures are similar to those of 2023, with an increase of 12 additional journeys on the route linking Gran Canaria and Fuerteventura.
Additionally, the shipping company expects to cater to 35,000 vehicles during this period. To meet the demand, the number of vehicle spaces, which dictates passenger occupancy on the vessels, is increased by 26% compared to the capacity of a normal week. Group trips, with family or friends, stand out, with an average of 4 passengers per vehicle.
Fred. Olsen Express’s Fleet Director, Juan Ignacio Liaño, states that “these figures serve as a boost for us to continue investing in improving our services. Once again, we see how travellers trust us as a means of transportation for their holidays. A trust that we believe is due to our punctuality, the flexible options we provide, the convenience of travelling without luggage limits and, for those who wish, with their own vehicle, in addition to always adapting to market demand.”
He adds, “we continue to work to ensure the best travel experience for our customers, even during peak periods. That is why we have recently announced the purchase of two new RoRo cargo ships, which will allow us to offer more capacity for specific freight transport, while freeing up space in the holds of inter-island routes to accommodate a larger number of passenger vehicles.”

On the other hand, the route connecting Huelva with the capital islands, operated jointly with Baleària, maintains the 3 weekly trips that have been in place since January. Therefore, it will have 9 journeys during the Easter period, thus offering a 30% increase compared to the 2023 trips. This increase is reflected in the passenger and vehicle forecasts, with approximately 1500 passengers and 600 vehicles expected, surpassing by over 25% the numbers from the previous year.
