Following the completion of rehabilitation and renovation works that commenced last November, the La Milagrosa soup kitchen on La Noria street in Santa Cruz de Tenerife has resumed its operations. This centre, which provides meals to those in need as well as a pantry and personal hygiene services, was temporarily closed during the renovation.
The dining facility, managed by the Daughters of Charity of Saint Vincent de Paul, had to launch a fundraising campaign to cover the costs of the works and the high expenses associated with providing meals and laundering clothing for over a hundred individuals daily, as reported by DIARIO DE AVISOS last December. The challenging situation almost led to the permanent closure of the kitchen by the nuns.
Sister Clotilde del Pino, the project’s overseer, expressed gratitude for the support received during this period. “Many individuals have contributed to sustaining this initiative. With these donations, we have enhanced the dignity of this dining hall, which was already significant. We look forward to continued support from individuals and parishes in the form of these small contributions.” Additionally, the City Council of the capital approved an extraordinary budget allocation of 30,000 euros to assist the La Milagrosa dining facility in its charitable endeavours.
