The Southern Hospital, affiliated with the Health Department of the Government of the Canary Islands, has launched two new specialized consultations to attend to the population of the southern part of the island, adding to the fourteen existing ones in its healthcare services.
In this way, the hospital center that depends on the University Hospital Nuestra Señora de Candelaria, has incorporated two new specialties into its consultation area: Paediatrics and Clinical Nutrition and Dietetics, whose professionals have already begun their activities at the Southern Hospital. Also, the coverage of Allergology consultations has been expanded to operate every weekday.
The addition of these new specialties will prevent users in this basic health zone from having to travel to La Candelaria Hospital to be seen in these specialties. The Paediatrics specialty has started Neuropaediatric consultations, and gradually different subspecialties will be incorporated to provide broader coverage to the paediatric population in the southern area.
The Southern Hospital continues to expand its range of specialties to cater to its target population, exceeding 220,000 individuals with an individual health card.
The Southern Hospital has outpatient consultations for fourteen medical and surgical specialties such as Cardiology, Pneumology, Neurology, Dermatology, Gastroenterology, Endocrinology, Nutrition, and Diabetic Education.
Additional services include Rehabilitation and Physiotherapy, General and Digestive Surgery, Traumatology and Orthopedics, Gynecology and Obstetrics, Urology, Otorhinolaryngology, Ophthalmology, as well as Mental Health with an area for child and adolescent psychiatry and adults.
