The Ministry of Education, Vocational Training, Physical Activity and Sports of the Government of the Canary Islands has recently concluded the expansion and refurbishment project at Magallanes Secondary Education Institute (IES) in the municipality of Granadilla de Abona, Tenerife. The institute now boasts four new classrooms, a library, cafeteria, and an evacuation staircase.
This initiative forms part of the broader infrastructure enhancement programme undertaken by the Ministry across the archipelago, underscoring its dedication to elevating the standard of education in the Canary Islands.
The undertaking, which incurred an investment of €671,750.74 and was overseen by the General Directorate of Infrastructure and Equipment, is particularly notable for the introduction of four new learning spaces to accommodate students in a modern and secure environment.
Among the new spatial arrangements, the classrooms feature an external corridor connecting the fresh additions with the existing structure, ensuring convenient and safe movement, as outlined in a Ministry statement.
The project also restores key areas such as the library, which had been repurposed as a regular classroom due to increased student numbers, along with the cafeteria.
Situated on the ground floor of the new building, both facilities offer enhanced amenities and services to the educational community.
In addition, the new infrastructure includes a staircase for secure access to the first-floor classroom, ensuring rapid evacuation in emergency situations.
