When the sea gets rough, it demands great respect. The alert for adverse coastal phenomena has led to the coast of Tenerife experiencing waves of several meters and damage along the northern part of the island.
Several municipalities have decided to close access to their beaches. One of them is San Cristóbal de La Laguna. The City Heritage Council closed Jover, Bajamar, and Punta del Hidalgo since last Saturday.
Following suit was La Orotava, where the Local Police of the municipality also closed beach access under their jurisdiction. The strong waves along the coast prompted this decision.
In San Telmo, Puerto de la Cruz, access has also been closed due to the rough sea. The same situation in San Juan de la Rambla, where the sea’s force has even surpassed several of the municipality’s rocks.
