Queen Sofía spent a few days in Tenerife attending various events, such as the celebration of the 30 years of the Heritage Cities in the Cathedral of La Laguna, or a release of loggerhead turtles on Las Teresitas beach, in Santa Cruz.
Additionally, the Queen visited the Wildlife Recovery Center “La Tahonilla”, one of the most highly regarded animal centres nationally. There, she took a stroll through the facilities and had an emotional moment with one of the turtles, playing with it.
