The event is scheduled to take place at the Tenerife Espacio de las Artes (TEA) on the 13th of March from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. It was officially introduced on Thursday during a press briefing by the Minister of Youth and Training, Serafín Mesa, and the event coordinator, Raquel Valle.
“Supporting this event is of paramount importance to us as it features an exceptional lineup of speakers complemented by a diverse range of activities that promote innovation, creativity, and above all, mental well-being, an issue that is crucial not only for the youth but for society as a whole. From the Youth department and other sectors like Education for Prevention, we aim to contribute by providing tools and support to the young demographic grappling with mental health challenges,” Mesa expressed.
On her part, event coordinator Raquel Valle shared, “TEDx aims to be a platform for Canary Islands-based entrepreneurs looking to showcase their talents, and this edition has attracted over 200 applications. Six professionals have been selected based on their extensive expertise and industry recognition.”
A total of six speakers will each delve into the significance of mental health through creativity and innovation in their 18-minute presentations, offering various perspectives on the topic.
The speakers include Bruno Bernal (CEO of Antmaze), who leads a venture centred on ant breeding in the Canary Islands and has provided ant colonies for the filming of Disney movies such as Ant-Man and The Wasp; Noelia Hernández, CEO of Vulva’s Revolution, focusing on sexual awareness through education, empowerment, and promoting the visibility of individuals’ sexual aspect in an engaging and positive manner; Julia Hernández, a ‘life coach’ for women in midlife; Jennifer Montesdeoca, a clinical psychologist; Jota y Punto, founder of Entrepreneurs Fight Club; and Eduardo Vera, a psychiatrist and Psychiatry professor involved in the MIR exam.
Additionally, alongside the talks, a range of activities related to the theme have been organised in collaboration with organizations dedicated to wellness, equality, and diversity.
These activities will feature an exhibition by Canarian illustrator Elvira Piedra (part of the Merkarte project endorsed by the Ministry of Youth) showcasing the empowerment and freedom of women; classical ballet and fusion performances by Clara Benítez accompanied by Pablo Acosta on the guitar; a presentation by the Karate Club Arge de la Cada de Venezuela; and the event’s conclusion will be marked by a fashion show featuring individuals with functional diversity in midlife, designed by Canarian designer Mado Vigarok.
