An Interception of a Vehicle in Tenerife Carrying 119 Kilograms of Frozen Restaurant Products

On Friday afternoon, authorities from the Local Police of Santa Cruz de Tenerife intercepted a Renault Megane model vehicle at the crossroads of Pilar and Suárez Guerra streets. The vehicle was found to be transporting 119 kilograms of frozen products intended for distribution to various restaurant establishments in the capital of Tenerife, Puerto de la Cruz, and La Laguna.

The driver had stacked these frozen items in the car’s trunk and rear seats. Among the detected pieces were various cuts of chicken, beef, duck, and fish, as reported by the Local Police.

Upon discovering this potential violation concerning the transportation of perishable goods, the driver was identified. The driver admitted to carrying out this type of transportation for several restaurants.

It was revealed from his statement that he had already distributed approximately 50 kilograms of similar frozen food to stores in the municipality of Candelaria.

Once it was determined that the vehicle was unsuitable for this type of transport and any potential risks were avoided, all the merchandise was removed and relocated to a designated storage facility for such situations.

Additionally, based on the invoices and orders presented by the offender, some of the recipients were informed of these circumstances.

Apart from issuing the relevant report, the police referred this situation to the Public Health Directorate of the Government of the Canary Islands; to the Transport division of the Cabildo de Tenerife, and to the Municipal Health service.

Furthermore, a complaint was filed for transporting perishable goods that require regulated temperature control under these circumstances.
