The Health-La Salle district of Santa Cruz City Council, overseen by councillor Zaida González, is joining forces to host the second instalment of the Carnival with a cause, dedicated this time in honour of José Victor Rodríguez. This vibrant event will take place on the 8th, 9th, and 10th of March at the Cuesta Piedra sports centre, organized by the Los Desbocados murga. All proceeds will be donated to the Canarian Solidarity NGO.

Zaida González, the Health-La Salle Councillor, mentioned, “This is the second edition of this Carnival with a cause, and the first to be dedicated to José Víctor Rodríguez Paz, who passed away recently. José Víctor was a beloved figure in Cuesta Piedra, hence the decision to honour him through this Santa Cruz de Tenerife Carnival gathering.”

The festivities, hosted by Itiel Delgado, Iván Herrera, and Dilan Alfaro, will kick off on Friday at 7:00 p.m., featuring an exhilarating batucada performance by the Cariocas, Joroperos, and Rumberos groups. Carnival characters will also be present, alongside the engaging “Laughter Song” performances starting at 7:30 p.m. The evening will also see live music acts from bands like Siboney, Sabor Isleño, Chaxiraxi, and Caña Dulce.

The day will wrap up with a dance at 11:00 p.m., featuring shows by Fernandito Martín ‘El Ferna’ and the Saoco Group. Saturday will commence at 5:30 p.m. with a dazzling performance by the choreographic group “Cream of a Dream”, followed by murga displays by Guachinquietas, Tras contras, Diablos Locos, Bambones, Cornucas Atómicos, Triqui Traques, Diabólicas, Twisttys, Tiralenguas, Mockers, and Desbocados in succession. The day will culminate with an amazing dance led by Iván Cacú and Grupo pa’ti.

Sunday’s programme, designed mainly for children, will start at 5:15 p.m. with “The Trufo Clown Show,” followed by performances from children’s murgas such as Sofocados, Guachipanduzy, Pita Pitos, Lenguas Longas, Triqui Traquitos, Distraidos, and Castorcitos to bring the second edition to a delightful close.
