The La Laguna City Council has procured 50 units of OneUp Saves, groundbreaking life-saving systems that automatically inflate upon contact with water. This invention is patented by a young individual from the Canary Islands and has already been distributed in various local and national municipalities.
Ángel Chinea, the Councilor for Beaches and Swimming Pools, has handed over the equipment to the Security and Rescue personnel to enhance safety measures on the coastal areas of the municipality, with the aim of averting drowning incidents and emergencies.
These devices will be deployed across the coastal zones of Bajamar, Punta del Hidalgo, Jóver (Tejina), and La Barranquera (Valle de Guerra).
The City Council has introduced other safety protocols, such as the installation of new surveillance cameras that will be used to monitor these locations in case of any emergency, including the impacts of adverse coastal conditions.
Furthermore, the mayor inspected the Bajamar and Punta del Hidalgo swimming pools this Wednesday following the damage caused by the recent rough sea conditions, which are expected to be rectified before Easter, anticipating a surge in visitors during that time.
