The national administration has initiated the initial phase of considering direct intervention in the initiation and financial backing of both railway schemes progressing in Gran Canaria and Tenerife within their respective councils on the islands alongside the regional Government of the Canary Islands. Minister for Transport and Sustainable Mobility, Oscar Puente, declared the direct engagement in advancing the railway infrastructure on both islands following the shared vision of the regional government and local authorities, which is to integrate into the national railway network facilitated by the organization overseeing it, Adif (Administrator of Railway Infrastructure), aiming to secure funding from the Ministry and EU resources.
