The Cereal Association of Tenerife (Acete) and the City Council of Los Realejos have raised the possibility of collaboratively promoting actions to reclaim abandoned lands for cultivating different cereal varieties. This was one of the topics discussed by Rural Development Councillor, Alexis Hernández, and the farmers’ representatives during their meeting regarding various issues concerning this crop, predominantly located in the Icod el Alto area of the island.
The councillor took note of the different requests made by Acete, to which the municipality of Los Realejos allocates an annual grant of 5,000 euros. Among the matters discussed were the upcoming harvest collection and the preliminary work for assigning a space to the association in this municipality.
Representing the Cereal Association of Tenerife at the meeting held in the City Hall of Los Realejos were its president, Isabel Cabrera; vice president, Antonio Hernández; secretary and treasurer, Emeterio García, as well as members Tomás Alonso, Mateo Felipe, and Toribio Hernández.
