The bay of El Médano comes alive with its Day Carnival, which brought rhythm and good music to the seafront of the coastal town of Granadilla de Abona. The fifth edition, organized by the Department of Culture of the Granadilla City Council, brought together thousands of people throughout the day, from past 11.00 in the morning until the early hours of the morning.
Carnival and the beach, albeit with a breeze, accompanied throughout the day to enjoy over 15 hours of activities and musical performances for the whole family and all audiences. The festive day began with the parade from Playa Chica to the central square, with local groups. The carnival celebration continued in the afternoon with various artists and musicians taking the stage such as Neo Pinto; Orquesta Atlantic; Acapulco; Dj Alejo; Grupo Paraiso; Dj Fabrizio; Nueva Ilusión; Fernandito and Aparranda2.
Francisco Socas highlights the great reception that this Day Carnival has had, with initiatives for audiences of all ages. The southern councillor thanks the participation of the numerous public who attended these activities, both in the parade and in the workshops, as well as those gathered in the square throughout the afternoon and evening.
The municipality will bid farewell to the Carnival this Sunday with the burial of the sardine, which will depart from Ramón y Cajal Square (El Calvario) starting at 7:00 p.m. The day will conclude at Los Hinojeros Park, with the burial festivities enlivened by the group Una Hora Menos, as well as a sardine barbecue.
