Canarian Coalition of Tenerife held its first Public Office Convention on Saturday, bringing together all mayors, councillors, island councilors and directors, deputies, and officials from the Canary Islands Government who are part of the Tenerife nationalists.

More than 300 people gathered at the event, with approximately 260 being political figures, aiming to “address crucial issues for Tenerife and for Canarias in a day to build a team, discuss strategies, set priorities, and consolidate the vision and values that led to the great results achieved in the last local elections.”

“This first Public Office Meeting of the Canarian Coalition of Tenerife represents the culmination of a hard journey from opposition to the responsibility of leading different governments,” said the island’s general secretary, Francisco Linares, who stated that after four years in opposition at the island and regional levels, the nationalists “are once again setting the political agenda that will make the necessary progress in both Tenerife and the Canary Islands a reality.”

“Led by Fernando Clavijo as President of the Canary Islands and the Secretary-General of our party, we have a very strong team in Tenerife with Rosa Dávila at the helm of the island’s leading institution, becoming the first female president of the Island Council of Tenerife,” highlighted Linares.

The party, as also highlighted by the mayor of La Orotava, “is stronger than ever, even though many considered us finished after the 2019 elections. We currently have over 12,000 affiliates in Tenerife, showing the strength of the organization on the island, as we have always defended the same values.”

“And even though we were in the opposition in most institutions during the previous term, we remained active, working for our people, as evidenced by over 115 meetings conducted, which kept the party alive to restore pride to Tenerife and the Canary Islands,” he pointed out.

On the other hand, the national general secretary and President of the Canary Islands Government, Fernando Clavijo, stated that in this first meeting they will address crucial issues for the future of Tenerife and the Canary Islands: “The convention provides us with the opportunity for public officials to share experiences, exchange ideas, and establish synergies to tackle the challenges facing society today. Collaboration between institutions is essential, as well as among local committees. All of this contributes to effective governance.”

“Seizing this convention to reaffirm the commitment to the party’s principles and the defense of Tenerife and the Canary Islands to continue working closely with all sectors of society to build a more prosperous, inclusive, and equitable future for all,” emphasised the nationalist leader.

On her part, the Secretary of Organization and president of the Island Council of Tenerife, Rosa Dávila, stressed that the aim of this first Convention “is to bring together all the public figures of the Canarian Coalition of Tenerife under one roof for a day of coexistence and work, allowing us to get to know each other better. Our personal relationships make it easier for us to work together, each from our respective responsibilities.”

In addition to team-building, Dávila insisted, “we need to make it clear that we are the necessary political force to rebuild this island and this Archipelago after 4 years of stagnation, lack of leadership, and paralysis.”

“This meeting represents the culmination of a long journey from opposition to the responsibility of leading different governments. A gathering to discuss strategies, set priorities, and consolidate the vision and values that led us to electoral victory,” highlighted the nationalist island president.

“The party is represented in all municipalities of Tenerife. We are a vibrant party, with strength, and even when in opposition, we maintained a strong structure, as our strength lies in our male and female members,” Dávila concluded.
