Today, Sandra Rodríguez, the head of Child and Family Protection at the Ministry of Social Welfare, Equality, Youth, Children and Families within the Government of the Canary Islands, has submitted her resignation citing personal reasons.
According to the Ministry of Social Welfare, the new appointee is expected to be announced during the upcoming Government Council meeting scheduled for Monday, 4th March in Las Palmas de Gran Canaria.
Sandra Rodríguez’s resignation follows a ruling by the Court of First Instance and Instruction number 2 of Puerto de la Cruz sentencing her to a nine-year disqualification from public employment or office due to administrative prevarication.
The offence is alleged to have occurred between 2015 and 2016, during her tenure as Councilor for Economic Management, Sociocultural Management and New Technologies at the Porto City Council, as per reports from ‘La Provincia’.
