The Tenerife Island Council approves the Strategic Subsidy Plan 2024-2026 with a contribution of €90.7 million to boost employment and enhance citizen services. The President of the Council, Rosa Dávila, notes that this is “a significant milestone” with actions to promote employment, innovation, research, and a more sustainable development of the Island.
Similarly, the subsidies allow for improvements in various infrastructures and overall enhancement of services for the citizens. Vice President Lope Afonso explains that the subsidies are used to promote activities among the population and encourage actions that benefit the dynamism of groups and their cooperation. “There is a wide range of subsidies in different areas, including the strengthening of the productive sector,” he detailed.
The Strategic Subsidy Plan 2024-2026 outlines the principles that should guide subsidy management: publicity, transparency, competition, objectivity, equality, non-discrimination, effectiveness in achieving the objectives set by the granting administration, and efficiency in the allocation and use of public resources. Thus, in the areas of Industry, Commerce, Primary Sector, and Animal Welfare, €25.8 million are earmarked, while €23 million are allocated to Employment, Education, and Youth. In the area of Culture, Museums, and Sports, there will be subsidies amounting to €33.2 million, and for the area of Presidency, Equality, Diversity, Finance, and Strategic Projects, €2,043,000 are allocated.
