SANTA CRUZ DE TENERIFE, 27th February (EUROPA PRESS) –
The Tenerife Council has introduced the inaugural Island Citizen Participation Strategy, spearheaded by the Social Action division.
The strategy was unveiled on Tuesday by councillor Águeda Fumero, who presented the document to municipal councils on the island and the civic organisations involved in its development.
According to a statement from the council, the Island Citizen Participation Strategy sets out a clear path for the promotion of genuinely participatory, holistic, cross-cutting, and practical policies.
Over the course of six months, a series of 12 workshops have been conducted, with participation from over 160 individuals.
The document includes a total of 53 specific actions, such as a training programme focused on participation methodologies and tools. These initiatives are designed to foster collaborative efforts in public administration, provide support for engagement at the municipal and civic organisation levels, and raise awareness about the significance of active participation.
The full document is available for review at www.cabildoabierto.tenerife.es. Citizens are encouraged to contribute suggestions and feedback until the following Tuesday.
