The general secretary of the Labour party in Tenerife, Pedro Martín has criticised the removal by the Tenerife Island Council of “budgets for important projects for municipalities like La Laguna or Granadilla de Abona in areas such as farmers’ markets“. Martín has thus highlighted one of the many obstacles faced by farmers, while warning that the situation will worsen and require “well-founded solutions to address the problem of lack of irrigation water“. Something that, according to the opposition’s general secretary, “has been overlooked.”
Martín made these statements during a meeting of the Insular Executive Commission and the Insular Committee, in which key actions were discussed, such as the shortage of affordable rental housing, the critical situation in the field due to the lack of water and the worsening of mobility.
Martín emphasised that “there are issues that concern the citizens of Tenerife and us as a party, to which the Island Council and Rosa Dávila continue to engage in propaganda without providing solutions.” In this regard, he referred to the failure to implement the five million euros we allocated for the purchase of homes by municipalities, but also “the president’s poor decisions” in areas such as mobility. Specifically, her decision “not to promote projects that we had prepared, such as the La Laguna bypass, which have been sidelined in favour of whims like closing access to the motorway, as in the case of Guamasa.”
