An individual was apprehended in the middle of Saturday afternoon following a confrontation with a member of the National Police. A moment of tension unfolded on San Francisco Avenue as farmers and tractor drivers were making their way down towards Nuestra Señora de África Market, where the organizers were reading the manifesto.
According to some demonstrators, the tractor drivers and farmers wanted to join the rest of the protesters, but the Police instructed them to take a different street. It was at this point that the detainee confronted the officers.
The man is being investigated for allegedly disrupting public order, classified as an attack against a law enforcement officer.
Sources from the National Police confirmed to EL DÍA that this was the only arrest made during a protest that had a festive atmosphere “with no major incidents”.
