SANTA CRUZ DE TENERIFE, 23rd February (EUROPA PRESS) –
The deputy president and tourism consultant of the Cabildo de Tenerife, Lope Afonso, expressed on Friday that remote work is “beneficial” for the island and also “absolutely compatible” with the local population.
Speaking to reporters regarding a promotional campaign by the Cabildo to attract ‘digital nomads’, he mentioned that this is not a new matter and these initiatives aim to “strengthen connections” with the local productive sector.
“It not only brings visitors, it also creates economic opportunities. We are referring specifically to a form of tourism that is non-invasive, not mass-oriented, and involves longer stays for work purposes. Therefore, it doesn’t fit the typical tourist profile that often leads to conflicts over the use of residential properties for tourism,” he highlighted.
