The unveiling of a new dog park in El Coromoto marks a significant milestone for the La Laguna City Council, showcasing their dedication to animal welfare and community engagement. This latest addition brings the total number of pet-friendly spaces in the municipality to 15.

Councilor Fran Hernández, responsible for Parks and Gardens, emphasised the importance of this new dog park during his recent visit to the canine recreation area in Ángel Hernández Arvelo ‘Ito’ park, El Coromoto. The provision of such specific areas for dogs reflects the council’s commitment to meeting the needs of local residents.

Speaking about future plans, Hernández expressed his desire to create similar spaces in other urban settings, in response to the demand from citizens for open, pet-friendly environments. He stated, “We aim to provide residents with safe and enjoyable spaces for their pets within their local neighbourhoods.”

Hernández recognised the significance of dog parks in fostering a sense of community and promoting responsible pet ownership. He added, “The opening of this new park further establishes La Laguna as a welcoming municipality that prioritises the welfare of both animals and citizens.”

The new park is enclosed by a fence and features two controlled entrances to ensure the safety of both dogs and visitors. The layout includes strategically placed trees and vegetation to provide shaded areas and enhance the overall walking experience.

Enhancing the facilities, a modern irrigation system has been implemented to maintain the green spaces in optimal condition. Additionally, wooden benches have been installed to create a comfortable setting for pet owners to relax while their furry companions explore the surroundings.
