SANTA CRUZ DE TENERIFE, Feb. 22 (EUROPA PRESS) –
The Cabildo of Tenerife will raise the subsidy fund to 600,000 euros for organizations involved in food distribution and addressing the social crisis on the island. This is part of the ‘Tenerife Isla Solidaria’ programme, which is implemented by the Social Action department of the insular institution in collaboration with Sinpromi, involving 25 affiliated entities.
The funds will be allocated for the acquisition of necessary inventory materials by these organizations to support their activities.
Águeda Fumero, the Minister of Social Action, has stated that the agreement includes a commitment to urgently call for these subsidies through direct concession, considering the public, social, and humanitarian interests that make a public call difficult. This will enable the subsidies to be processed, resolved, and paid in advance during the current year.
Through this agreement, the Cabildo acknowledges the exceptional role of the organizations distributing food and essential products, emphasizing the valuable service they provide.
The island government deems it crucial to ensure a financial framework for these organizations, whose activities are vital to Tenerife’s social policies. Thus, it reaffirms its dedication to strengthening alliances with third sector entities in general, and those involved in addressing social emergencies in particular, laying the groundwork for a genuine revolution in social affairs management.
