The Public Services sector, under the direction of Carlos Tarife, has announced that 96 pest control and rodent extermination operations were conducted in December, as part of the Comprehensive Pest Management Plan (PGIP) implemented by Seranca Rentokil-Initial. These initiatives were executed across the entire city, with particular focus on critical areas.
Santa Cruz Mayor, José Manuel Bermúdez, commends “the crucial and commendable work undertaken in pest control and rodent extermination in the city, spanning all five districts,” and emphasises that “the City Council remains unwavering in its commitment to ward off these unwelcome insects and rodents from our streets.”
Furthermore, Carlos Tarife, the Councilor for Public Services, highlights that “a significant number of hours were dedicated to cleaning drains, sewers, and waste containers during nearly 100 operations conducted in December, alongside tackling critical areas where cockroaches, rodents, and fleas infest dog parks.”
The mayor also urges “citizens to acknowledge their responsibility in the proper disposal of rubbish, as it often ends up outside the containers, attracting unwanted insects and rodents.”
It is important to note that the pest control and rodent extermination services are conducted on public thoroughfares (streets, walkways, paths), outdoor municipal spaces (squares, parks, green areas, lots, gullies), and public networks and facilities like electricity, street lighting, traffic systems, and telecommunications. Additionally, auxiliary facilities such as underground containers, cabinets, sheds, municipal buildings, and mobile parks are covered, along with necessary intervention in privately-owned properties posing extraordinary health risks.
