On Tuesday, Ryanair announced the commencement of eight new routes to Tenerife, as well as the deployment of two new aircraft at the Southern Airport of the island for this summer, adding to the existing two aircraft based at the aerodrome. This move by the airline towards the island is expected to create more than 120 job opportunities and an additional investment of 200 million euros.
The new routes will connect Tenerife with Marrakech (Morocco), Cardiff (United Kingdom), Budapest (Hungary), Memmingen and Düsseldorf-Weeze (Germany), Knock (Ireland), Pisa (Italy), and Toulouse (France), adding to the 47 routes already operated by Ryanair to the island, making it a total of 53, six of which depart from Tenerife North Airport.
Collectively, the traffic generated by Ryanair to the island is expected to increase by 18% compared to the current levels, reaching up to 1.8 million passengers. The overall investment by the airline in Tenerife will rise to 400 million euros and will result in a total of 1,700 job opportunities, including 150 pilot, cabin crew, and engineering positions.
Ryanair’s Country Manager for Spain, Elena Cabrera, stated that “as the number one airline in Tenerife, Ryanair’s new routes offer even more options for weekend getaways, city breaks, and summer vacations to the citizens and visitors of Tenerife, all at the lowest fares in Europe. Our 400 million euro investment in Tenerife and our 18% traffic growth underline Ryanair’s commitment to the growth and connectivity of Tenerife’s tourism.” Cabrera added, “to celebrate these new routes, we have launched a three-day seat sale with fares from 29.99 euros, available from today, and can be booked at www.ryanair.com.”
