Youth in Santa Cruz de Tenerife Caught with Varying Quantities of ‘Laughing Gas’

The Santa Cruz de Tenerife Local Police apprehended five individuals aged between 18 and 23 in possession of a dozen canisters of nitrous oxide, commonly known as laughing gas.

Early on Sunday, the agents intercepted the group in the Santa Cruz interchange parking lot while they were causing damage to a parked motorcycle, as stated by the Local Police in an official release.

Upon a cursory search, multiple small bottles of nitrous oxide and balloons were confiscated.

Furthermore, two of the individuals were found in possession of 980 euros for which they could not provide a legitimate source.

Among the confiscated items, in addition to the bottles and balloons, was a device for inflating them and a knife.

The agents conducted necessary procedures and filed reports for the possession of nitrous oxide and the knife.

The Santa Cruz Local Police cautioned that laughing gas can have various detrimental effects on health.

In fact, the National Drug Plan outlines that, alongside the initial euphoria and well-being it induces, it can result in fainting and, in more severe cases, respiratory arrest.
