The Urban Planning Management of the Santa Cruz City Council has issued an order to halt the secret renting of tents on the roof of a municipal building, situated on Castellón de la Plana street in the capital of Tenerife.
This action initiates the possibility of imposing a penalty for conducting unauthorized activity, classified as very serious, with fines ranging from 15,001 to 30,000 euros. The Santa Cruz Local Police will notify the cessation of this activity, providing the involved parties with a ten-day window to submit objections.
The mayor, José Manuel Bermúdez, appreciates the efforts of the Urban Planning Management in ending a situation that violates current regulations. “We cannot tolerate such actions within our municipality, especially when they are conducted without any form of authorization, let alone in the conditions under which it was taking place.” The municipal official emphasized that “the City Council, through the Urban Planning Management, will exert every effort to ensure compliance with the law.”
The Urban Planning Councillor, Zaida González, reveals that she was made aware of this situation following a complaint from a resident, upon which “we initiated the process, from the Management, to verify if this activity had the necessary permits.”
González further explained, “After completing the necessary procedures, we have commenced various proceedings to prompt the immediate cessation of this unauthorized activity, along with the penalties stipulated for this violation, which is deemed a serious offense.” .
