Eulalia García, the Mobility councillor of the Tenerife’s Council, stated on Monday that the negotiations with the tram workers are “well underway” and is confident that the indefinite strike will be suspended “as soon as possible”.
Speaking to journalists, she pointed out that there will be a solution because “there are many points of agreement,” although she made it clear that consideration must be given to the “needs” of the workers as well as the users.
The indefinite strike starts this Monday and will affect three hourly periods, subject to a minimum service level set at 80%.
Among other things, the workers are demanding the elimination of silica dust in the braking systems, the development of an equality plan, and more measures to prevent workplace accidents.
