This morning, the Governing Board of the Santa Cruz de Tenerife City Council has given the green light to commence the procedures for tendering and awarding the supplies and services required for the digital transformation of Nuestra Señora de África Market and its surroundings, including the adjacent shopping center and the Rastro located on Rambla Azul. This transformation necessitates an investment of 2,149,287 euros, with 1,719,429.60 euros funded by the European Next Generation funds. The initiative aims to streamline waste management, enhance energy efficiency and accessibility, and modernize marketing channels and distribution. This transformation is closely linked with the area of Strategic Planning, Environmental Sustainability, and Public Services.
The mayor of Santa Cruz, José Manuel Bermúdez, elaborates that “this project is a secure investment for the enhancement of this distinctive, iconic commercial hub with a rich history. It will undoubtedly provide a significant boost to the economy and contribute to the improvement of the city’s social development.”
The Councilor for Strategic Planning and Public Services, Carlos Tarife, emphasizes that “the Recova de Santa Cruz deserves these actions, which involve improving the website and implementing a mobile application to enhance customer loyalty, as well as introducing technological solutions at points of sale through digital channels. This includes the installation of smart delivery lockers, implementing a WIFI network throughout the premises and adjacent areas, installing signage, and advertising on digital media.”
Furthermore, the mayor stresses that these actions “aim to digitize the offerings of merchants and their points of sale, contributing to their economic sustainability and growth while also assisting them in adapting to the new consumer landscape. Additionally, they contribute to the transformation and digitization of this space to align with emerging market trends.”
The City Council is dedicated to enhancing the city’s commercial fabric to bridge the existing gap in the implementation and maximization of technological tools, ultimately benefiting the entire commercial ecosystem through any potential synergies that may emerge.
