A 36-year-old man and a 13-year-old girl sustained moderate injuries when the young girl was struck by a wave and fell into the water at the natural pools of Santiago del Teide in Tenerife, according to reports from the Emergency and Security Coordinating Center of 112 of the Canary Islands.
The incident took place around 7:30 p.m. this Sunday at the aforementioned location. The girl fell into the water after being hit by the wave, prompting the man to jump in to assist her. Both managed to get out of the water through a rocky area.
Subsequently, the Canary Islands Emergency Service (SUC) personnel provided assistance to the girl and the man, confirming that they had lacerations and moderate hypothermia. They were transferred by ambulance to the Hospiten Sur University Hospital for further evaluation and treatment.
The Tenerife Firefighters Consortium also took part in the rescue, retrieving the affected individuals from the rocky area and providing assistance before the SUC took over.
