The Cultural Center of Los Cristianos will host, from Tuesday to Thursday, the university extension course “Tourist Destination Planning through Digital Tools,” recognized with a European Credit Transfer and Accumulation System (ECTS) credit. This is one of the training proposals of the Winter University edition in Arona for this year, a project developed in the municipality through a collaboration agreement with the University of La Laguna (ULL).
This course on smart tourism is aimed at individuals interested in the digital transformation and digital environments applied to tourism through disruptive technologies. It is also targeted at individuals involved in the tourism sector who want to acquire technological competencies and digital transformation, as well as entrepreneurs and/or professionals in the tourism sector and self-employed individuals looking to train in web, social media, and digital information management in the sector.
It will be taught from 4:00 pm to 8:00 pm, by Christopher Juan Expósito Izquierdo, PhD in Computer Science and Master in Computer Science and Teacher Training, and by Airam Expósito Márquez, PhD in Computer Science and Master in Computer Engineering.
There are no prerequisites to enroll, as all courses at the Winter University in Arona are open to the general population, not just students or those with a university degree. The registration fee is 10 euros for residents of Arona and 20 euros for non-residents.
Among the competencies that can be acquired through this course are skills and abilities related to the analysis and evaluation of disruptive technologies in the tourism sector, the design of new digital tourism business models, and the various online presence solutions through the web and social networks, according to the desired communication strategy.
The design of communication actions for online presence and skills for collaborative work on the internet using digital tools are also part of the objectives of this initiative, as stated by the municipal government.
