The traditional Children’s Arena of the Santa Cruz de Tenerife Carnival quarry bid farewell in style yesterday afternoon, as the little ones filled the capital’s main streets with colour and joy.
The parade began at 6:00 p.m. at the junction of Numancia and Méndez Núñez streets, and proceeded to Villalba Hervás street, featuring all the children’s groups of the Chicharrero Carnival, award-winning costumes, children’s centres, and schoolchildren’s batucadas.
Presiding over the parade of young carnival-goers was the Children’s Queen, Sofía Rodríguez, wearing her fantasy costume titled “Mi Ratito Favorito,” designed by Alexis Santana, representing the Golden Mile of Playa de Las Américas, alongside her court of honour.
Joy, fantasy, and a lot of tenderness marked the children’s farewell to the Carnival in this charismatic event scheduled for the Piñata weekend. The Santa Cruz de Tenerife City Council, through the Autonomous Body of Festivals and Recreational Activities (Oafar), prepared a wide and varied program that lasted well into the night.
