Tacoronte is all set to commemorate its anniversary from the 22nd to the 26th of February, the Girl Piñata event, which is themed around the popular 80s this year and features the inaugural Day Carnival.
The festivities will kick off on the 24th of February in three different locations: Plaza Capitol, Plaza de La Estación and Plaza de La Paz (near a well-known furniture sales company), with approximately twenty performances, competitions and shows. The program will commence at 12 noon and will aim to infuse vibrant energy into the three designated areas by the organizers, including an area for children’s amusements featuring activities and characters from the 2024 Carnival Camp.
The renowned singer Henry Méndez, DJ Ray Castellano, and soloist Mayelín, paying tribute to Celia Cruz, will lead an impressive line-up created for the enjoyment of this new event with the whole family. The day will culminate with the Miss Mosto Grand Gala, one of the highlights of the Tacorontera Carnivals. Directed by Sergio de la Guardia, the candidates for this edition will share the stage with comedian Jesús Farrais, in a competition where the judges will reward the best wine-related costumes. Following this, a new festival will commence with performances by the Kadetes group and the Tropin and Dinacord orchestras.
This information was announced by the mayor, Sandra Izquierdo, during the unveiling of the promotional poster, designed by Javier Gutiérrez, and the event program, which will primarily take place at Plaza de La Estación.
Also in attendance at the briefing were the Festival Councilor, Noemí García; the councilor responsible for Citizen Security, Local Police, Civil Protection and Seniors, Vanessa Luis-Ravelo; the creator of the promotional image, and the director of the Reina de la Piñata and Third Age galas, David Hernández.
On the 22nd of February, the traditional seniors’ competition and the Senior Queen election will take place, featuring a total of five candidates. The event will be held at the Capitol Municipal Auditorium, with performances by the AFC Hogar Taifa, Lenny González, and the comedic talents of Juanito Panchín.
The following day, the Grand Gala for the Election of the Queen of the Piñata Chica 2024 is scheduled at Plaza de La Estación, with five other candidates and performances by the murgas Raviscuditos, Diabólicas and Trapaseros, along with the Los Cariocas troupe and the voice of Argel Campos.
