The Commission against Violence, Racism, Xenophobia and Intolerance in Sport has proposed a penalty of 80,000 euros and a four-year ban from accessing any sports venue for a fan of UD Las Palmas for throwing a lit flare at local fans during the recent Tenerife-Las Palmas Copa del Rey match.
The fall of this lit flare into the stands caused a serious situation of danger for all spectators, which could have caused serious injuries and burns of varying degrees to the fans, including several minors, reported Antiviolence.
Additionally, the commission has proposed another penalty of 20,000 euros and a 12-month ban from accessing any sports venue for another Las Palmas fan who introduced and ignited two other flares in the visiting fans’ stands during the same match, causing a large amount of smoke, fire, and sparks as well as a serious risk for the rest of the spectators.
The Commission imposes these very serious penalty proposals on the two fans in view of the dangerous situation for the rest of the spectators who were watching this football match and reminds all football clubs and fans that it is strictly forbidden to bring pyrotechnic devices into a sports venue.
Likewise, the Antiviolence Commission expressed its condolences for the death of a security guard at the end of the UD Las Palmas-Valencia CF match, who was on duty at the Gran Canaria stadium.
On the other hand, Sevilla FC has been fined 55,000 euros for allowing 29 radical and violent members of the team’s supporters access to the Ciudad Deportiva José Ramón Cisneros Palacios grounds during a team training session and also for authorising these individuals to meet with members of the first team.
“It should be noted that members of this group have been involved in violent incidents, which were reported by the Commission against violence, racism, xenophobia and intolerance in sport to Sevilla FC, and documented by this club in its Register of Supporters’ Activities“, it stated.
Furthermore, another penalty proposal of 40,000 euros has been agreed for Deportivo Alavés SAD for not having removed from the sports venue all those references, in the form of murals, graffiti, and stickers, promoting the Iraultza 1921 group, whose members have been involved in violent, racist, xenophobic and intolerant behaviour.
The Commission reminded the Vitorian club that it had already been warned and proposed for sanctions on another occasion due to the existence of the indicated symbolism, “having made no modifications in this regard since the last inspection, as requested”.
