The Santa Cruz de Tenerife City Council has awarded El Corte Inglés a one-year concession, which can be extended for another year, to manage the public parking facility located beneath the store on Tres de Mayo Avenue.
The council clarified that this is a temporary demanial concession of public domain assets, which does not involve their transfer.
“With the city having a limited number of parking spaces in comparison to the increasing number of vehicles on the roads, it is crucial to maintain the 572 spaces in this car park,” highlighted the mayor, José Manuel Bermúdez.
The parking rate for users will be set at 1.23 euros per hour (including IGIC), and users will be charged per minute of parking. Additionally, El Corte Inglés will have to pay an annual fee of 16,690.05 euros.
In 2020, the local governing board of the Santa Cruz de Tenerife City Council terminated the parking concession, as it was discovered that the then concessionaire, Inversiones Parque, led by businessman Antonio Plasencia, who was convicted in the Las Teresitas case, had transferred the operation without municipal authorization.
