SANTA CRUZ DE TENERIFE, Feb. 14 (EUROPA PRESS) –
Today, the Minister of Social Action of the Cabildo of Tenerife, Águeda Fumero, presided over a meeting with a representation of the parents of the users of CAMP La Cuesta. The purpose was to explain the details of the new project, which is on the verge of commencing operations.
Accompanied by the vice president of the Cabildo, Lope Afonso, the councillor explained that the goal of this initiative is to enable CAMP La Cuesta to “deliver an adequate and efficient service to users.” As part of this, it will offer a minimum of 50 residential places and 20 day care places, along with additional amenities such as a kitchen, outdoor areas, laundry, and a therapeutic area.
CAMP La Cuesta is a public service of the Cabildo, providing care for people with disabilities in both day care and residential care facilities.
Águeda Fumero reiterated that the construction of the new centre, with a budget exceeding 7 million euros, will expand residential spaces to at least 50. This expansion has been “strongly requested by families and implies greater support for the family environment, improved care, and an enhanced quality of life for users.”
The new CAMP La Cuesta will be erected on an area of 4,926.63 square meters, with a total budget of 7,152,020.90 euros, co-financed by the Government of the Canary Islands. This falls within the framework of the socio-health infrastructure plan, with an estimated completion time of 17 months.
Águeda Fumero and Lope Afonso affirmed that, in this term, they will “pursue a transformative approach to social management, believing that for greater effectiveness, it is essential to collaborate closely with third sector entities, families, and the users themselves in all processes related to caring for people.”
