Man Faces 31-Year Prison Sentence for Sexually Assaulting Minor Nieces

The Santa Cruz de Tenerife Prosecutor’s Office is seeking a combined 31-year prison sentence and a compensation of 53,000 euros from a young man accused of sexually assaulting his minor nieces, taking advantage of the fact that they lived in adjacent homes in Los Realejos.

The Public Ministry alleges two counts of sexual assault on a minor under 13 years of age, seeking 15 years in prison for each count, and an additional year for exhibition of pornographic material.

Additionally, it is seeking 25,000 euros in compensation for each niece and an extra 3,000 euros for one of them for the psychological trauma caused, as well as the amount set for the medical expenses they have incurred.

The assaults reportedly began with the eldest niece at their grandmother’s house, under the pretext of playing something new. The accused allegedly repeated these behaviors at least once a week, continuing into adulthood with increasing frequency.

He allegedly coerced her to erase any evidence of the assault and blamed her for the pain caused, warning of dire consequences if anyone found out.

On one occasion, when the minor attempted to escape, he allegedly assaulted her and committed rape, as well as forcing her to perform other sexual acts.

Verbal humiliations were constant, and he purportedly forced her to watch pornographic videos.

When the niece and her family changed residence, she managed to avoid encounters by using a different entrance, but the accused allegedly targeted the younger sister, subjecting her to similar violent acts at least twice a week.

The incidents reportedly ceased when the accused moved to the mainland upon reaching legal age, after which the victims filed a complaint, suffering from depression and post-traumatic stress disorder.

They have since required psychological and pharmacological treatment, with the younger sister experiencing relationship problems, as per the Prosecutor’s Office.
