The Cabildo of Tenerife paid a tribute, observing a moment of silence to show solidarity with the families of the two civil guards who lost their lives on February 9 in the fight against drug trafficking in Barbate.

The event, held at the Plaza del Cabildo, was attended by Brigadier General Juan Hernández Mosquera, the head of the Canary Islands Civil Guard Zone, and was requested by the Spanish Federation of Municipalities and Provinces (FEMP).

Lope Afonso, the first vice president of the Cabildo, expressed condolences on behalf of the Cabildo and the citizens to Hernández.

Afonso, in a statement from the corporation, emphasized the importance of demonstrating solidarity and support, acknowledging the courageous efforts of the State Security Forces and Corps, particularly the Civil Guard, in challenging conditions and the necessity of supporting their work to uphold law and order in society.
