The Santa Cruz de Tenerife Carnival is approaching, and as usual, it is expected to have rain. This is according to the updated forecast from the State Meteorological Agency (Aemet), which predicts rain during the early hours of the opening night of the festivities.
The rainfall, generally weak with a possibility of moderate showers in the early morning, is anticipated to be predominant in the Canary Islands this Saturday. Additionally, a significant drop in maximum temperatures is expected, along with strong intervals of northwesterly winds.
At sea, there will be west or northwest 4 or 5, possibly reaching 6 on the north and south coasts until midnight, subsiding to the north or northwest 3 or 4 at dawn. There will be a swell, potentially strong on the north coast and extremely strong on the south coast until dawn. Furthermore, there will be an increasing northwest swell to 2 or 3 meters.

Expect cloudy intervals, with predominantly overcast skies in the early morning. There’s a probability of generally light rain during the first half of the day, with a chance of locally moderate showers in the early morning, particularly in the north and west. Mild to moderate decrease in temperatures, especially significant in the maximum temperature. Northwest winds, with strong intervals in inland areas, are expected to shift to the north and decrease during the afternoon.
FUERTEVENTURA
Anticipate cloudy intervals, with predominantly overcast skies in the early morning. Expect light rain during the first half of the day, more likely in the north and west in the early morning, with a possibility of locally moderate rainfall. Temperatures are expected to decrease slightly to moderately, with a more significant drop in maximum temperatures. Wind from the west-northwest, with strong intervals in inland areas, is expected to turn north and decrease during the afternoon.
GRAN CANARIA
Expect cloudy intervals, with predominantly overcast skies in the northern region during the first half of the day. There’s a low probability of light and occasional rain in the midlands of the north during the morning. Minimum temperatures will experience few changes, but there will be a significant drop in maximum temperatures, especially in the midlands of the northern slope. Northwest winds with strong intervals, are expected to shift to a northerly direction in the morning, and then decrease during the afternoon. Occasionally, very strong northwesterly gusts can occur on the summits and western and eastern slopes during the first half of the day.
TENERIFE
Expect cloudy intervals, with predominantly overcast skies in the north early in the morning. There’s a chance of light to moderate rain during the first half of the day, more likely in the northeast. Minimum temperatures will see few changes, with a decrease in maximum temperatures, except in the northwest where there will be minimal changes. West winds with strong intervals will shift to the northwest in the morning, and then decrease during the afternoon. In central summits, strong northwest winds with very strong gusts are expected, occasionally exceeding 90 km/h until the afternoon, when they are predicted to subside. Occasionally, very strong gusts cannot be ruled out on the ridge and in Anaga during the first half of the day.
LA GOMERA
Expect cloudy intervals, with predominantly overcast skies in the north during the early morning. There’s a chance of weak and scattered rain in the north during the first half of the day. Temperatures will see few changes, with slight decreases in maximum temperatures on the eastern slope. West winds with strong intervals are expected to shift to the north in the morning, and then decrease during the afternoon. There is a probability of locally very strong gusts on the summits at the beginning.
THE PALM
Expect cloudy intervals, with predominantly overcast skies in the north and west during the early morning. There’s a probability of generally light and occasional rains during the first half of the day, which might be moderate during the early morning, especially in the west. Minimum temperatures will slightly decrease, and there will be slight decreases in maximum temperatures on the northern and eastern slopes, with no changes in other areas. Winds from the west with strong intervals will shift to the north in the morning, and then decrease during the afternoon. Occasionally, very strong northwesterly gusts on summits and northeast and northwest slopes during the early morning hours can occur.
