SANTA CRUZ DE TENERIFE, Feb. 8 (EUROPA PRESS) –
The Canarian Coalition, the Popular Party and Vox make up the Mixed Group of the El Rosario City Council, which has brought a formal complaint against the mayor, Escolásico Gil (IR-Verdes), to the Provincial Council for refusing them access to premises within the town hall to carry out their opposition duties.
The resolution of the Common Deputy, Rafael Yanes, obtained by Europa Press, stipulates that the Council will initiate communication with the City Council to unravel the details and acknowledges that the complaint meets the requirements of the Statute of Autonomy (article 57) and the law of the Common Council itself.
The complaint, raised by the five councilors, highlights their lack of premises since the new corporation was inaugurated. The government group responded to them on December 7, citing “serious problems” with the availability of premises and offices in the City Council and committing to consider their request when space becomes available. The group was also reminded of their financial allocation that could be utilized for this purpose.
The Mixed Group argues that the denial of premises infringes upon their right to partake in public affairs, as stipulated in article 23 of the Constitution. They also emphasize that the provision of premises for the opposition is a requirement under the FEMP Good Local Government Code.
