The title of Carnival Queen 2024 in Santa Cruz de Tenerife has been claimed by Corina Mrazek González. She secured the scepter of sovereignty at the chicharrera celebration with the dazzling costume “El Mundo” crafted by designer Santi Castro and representing the Añaza-Carrefour Shopping Center. The gala, directed by Jep Meléndez, was a vibrant display of rhythm, humour, and colour that filled the capital’s Fairgrounds with heart-stirring emotions. The court of honour included Lucía Hernández Alonso, adorned in the enchanting fantasy “The Birth of Venus” by Alexis Santana, who claimed the title of first lady of honour representing McDonald’s and El Día-La Opinión de Tenerife. Ankirian Idariana Marcano Cartagena clinched the position of second lady with the resplendent costume “Euforia” by Jorge González Santana, representing the Arona City Council. Nancy González Bethencor, donning the design “Joan of Arc” by Juan Carlos Armas, and representing Dormitorum and El Gusto Por El Vino, was named the third lady, while Rosalva Morales Benítez was adorned in the captivating fantasy “Zibá” by Cristian Santana, and represented Repsol Grupo González Canarias as the fourth bridesmaid.
The Queen and her court wowed the 5,000 spectators gathered at the Fairgrounds with their awe-inspiring designs that came to life on a grand stage dedicated to television. Mayor José Manuel Bermúdez, alongside the 2023 Queen Adriana Peña, bestowed the scepter upon the new sovereign, while the Fiestas councillor, Javier Caraballero, honoured the bridesmaids. These dignitaries emerged from a pool of 11 candidates vying to become the ambassador of the Santa Cruz de Tenerife Carnival.
The gala commenced with a magnificent opening, featuring nearly a thousand performers on stage, led by the actor and comedian Aarón Gómez, who took the audience on a Broadway-style musical journey, paying homage to the most iconic television programmes. This lively spectacle paved the way for the hosts, Eloísa González and Elvis Sanfiel, who introduced the esteemed members of the jury.
The prestigious jury included prominent figures such as actress and presenter Bárbara Rey; illustrator and winner of the 2024 Carnival Poster, Arón Morales; film and theatre costume designer Héctor León; director of makeup, film, and television hairdressing Alberto Dugarte; Fine Arts graduate and president of the Círculo de Bellas Artes de Tenerife, Alejandro Tosco; Miss Spain 2008, Patricia Yurena Rodríguez; En Otra Clave actress Nieves Bravo; 25 Grados presenter Desirée Hernández; actress and vedette Marlene Mourreau; journalist for the Telecinco programme Fiesta, Jorge Moreno; Tania Betancor, director of the Tania Betancor Clinic; and Roberto Herrera, director of the Cerca de Ti programme on TVE in the Canary Islands.
