SANTA CRUZ DE TENERIFE, Feb. 1 (EUROPA PRESS) –
The president of the Cabildo of El Hierro, Alpidio Armas, announced today his decision to remove David Cabrera from all his roles, including the position of first vice president and insular advisor of Rural and Marine Environment and Infrastructure, Maintenance, Works and Roads and Territorial Planning.
Alpidio Armas made this decision citing consistent “disloyal acts” and the desire to “lead a parallel Cabildo.” He clarified that this decision does not violate the current government pact, but rather denotes a “revocation of David Cabrera, stripping him of all his organizational roles.”
Armas highlighted that these disloyal acts date back to the previous term, and despite being asked to rectify them in the current agreement, there has been a progressive deterioration. “Far from improving and achieving it, this situation has been progressively worsening over time,” he added.
The island president emphasized that these changes are an act of responsibility towards the people of El Hierro, who have witnessed the disharmony and lack of coordination in governance. He emphasized that this change heralds a new era in safeguarding the interests of the people of El Hierro. “It is the best thing that can happen to the island,” he declared.
Additionally, the island president clarified that there is currently no intention to break the existing pact and, as a gesture of generosity and trust, he has invited the other two councilors of the Herreña Assembly, Ana Cecilia González (Employment and Economic Development) and Emilio Hernández (Education, Youth, Culture, Heritage and Sports), to continue in their positions, as he believes “they are managing with dedication and loyalty to this presidency, unlike David Cabrera”. Both have until Monday, February 5, to confirm their continuity in their roles.
During the press conference at the Cabildo, the president announced that he will temporarily assume the areas previously overseen by Cabrera. Simultaneously, he will refrain from making any new appointments or administrative decisions until further arrangements are made, as this signifies “a new phase in the government team,” he stated.
