SANTA CRUZ DE TENERIFE, Feb. 1 (EUROPA PRESS) –
Today, the town of Candelaria is set to host a series of events within the scope of the celebrations commemorating the Solemnity of Our Lady of Candelaria, showcasing the tradition and devotion of the Canarian people towards the Patroness of the Canary Islands.
The day will commence with the Eucharist at 8:00 a.m. and 10:00 a.m. The civic procession and the transfer of the town’s banner will take place at 11:30 a.m., starting from the Town Hall to the Basilica. The Las Candelas Music Band and representatives of the Local Police of Santa Cruz and Candelaria will join the procession.
At 12:00 p.m., the Solemn Eucharist led by Monsignor Bernardo Álvarez, bishop of the Nivariense Diocese, and performed by the Orfeón La Paz of La Laguna, will be broadcast live on Mírame Televisión. Following this, the image of the Virgin of Candelaria is set to be paraded around the Plaza de la Patrona de Canarias, accompanied by a shower of fliers.
Later in the day, at 4:45 p.m., the Tafuriaste Cultural Association will offer drumbeats and present respects to the Virgin, followed by the Holy Rosary at 5:15 p.m. Finally, at 6:00 p.m., a special Eucharist will be held, featuring the presentation of boys and girls to La Morenita.
