The House of Culture’s Óscar Domínguez room was the venue for a new edition of the Traditional Trades Tribute event in the City of Tacoronte, paying recognition to eight influential individuals from the municipality’s primary sector.
Presented by journalist Zenaido Hernández, the event served as a platform to highlight and laud the contributions of Javier Reyes and Dácil Mazuelas (Agriculture); Margarita Pérez (Viticulture); Rosario Romero (Fishing); Carmen Francisco (Crafts); Alfonso Ferrer and María de los Ángeles Tavío (Ancient Offices). This edition also featured José Almenar Fuentes as an eminent figure in the city, acknowledging not only his professional journey but also his close association with the cultural and festive realm of Tacoronte.
The Department of the Primary Sector, under the stewardship of Arsenio Gómez, took the opportunity to showcase a series of videos detailing the significant aspects of the recognized traditional trades. The videos included anecdotes, reminiscences, and appraisals from the individuals involved.
In her welcome address, the mayor of the city, Sandra Izquierdo, expressed that such events “help us to publicly appreciate the exceptional contributions of women and men who, throughout their lives and in the domains of agriculture, crafts, and various other sectors of the primary industry in Tacorontero, have managed to shape their future through sacrifice, perseverance, as well as talent and knowledge passed down through generations.”
The musical accompaniment for the event was provided by the faculty of the Tacoronte Municipal Music School, under the direction of Sandra Hernández.
