An individual, for whom no further details have been disclosed, tragically lost their life after their car veered into the Chinamada ravine, situated in the municipality of La Laguna, Tenerife, as confirmed by the Emergency and Security Coordinating Center (Cecoes) 1-1-2.
The incident took place on Monday, just before 5:00 p.m., when the 1-1-2 operational center received a distress call regarding a vehicle slipping off the road and plunging into the aforementioned ravine.
Cecoes promptly activated essential emergency services, including a rescue helicopter from the GES, Tenerife Firefighters, a basic life support ambulance from the SUC, a doctor and Primary Care nurse, as well as personnel from the Environment and the National Police, who rushed to the scene.
Upon approaching the area, the GES helicopter confirmed the presence of the vehicle at the ravine’s base, with an individual, sustaining fatal injuries, found outside the car. It remains uncertain if there are other casualties.
As nightfall descended, the GES aircraft departed, and Tenerife Firefighters continued their efforts at the site to conduct the rescue operation.
On the following morning, with authorization from the judicial authority, the GES helicopter, accompanied by members of the GREIM and the Firefighters Consortium, reached the deceased individual, airlifted the body, and transferred it to a nearby location, where it was handed over to the judicial authority’s custody.
The Local Police cooperated with other emergency resources in the deployed operation and conducted the necessary reports.
