SANTA CRUZ DE TENERIFE, January 29. (EUROPA PRESS) –
Transportes Interurbanos de Tenerife (Titsa), a company of the Cabildo de Tenerife, transported 69,472,103 passengers during 2023, representing a 44.88% increase compared to the previous year, with a total growth in passengers of 21,387,561.
Across all the areas in which Titsa operates, there has been a notable increase in passenger numbers in 2023.
The central area has the highest concentration of passengers, with 34,937,984 passengers between the urban and interurban services of Santa Cruz, the urban and interurban area of La Laguna, and the metropolitan area, as reported by the Cabildo.
Minister of Mobility, Eulalia García, has expressed appreciation for the data and expressed hope “to retain a significant portion of these new users and gradually bring about a change in citizens’ mobility habits.”
García also emphasized the Cabildo’s implementation of an extensive range of measures to enhance and promote the use of public transportation.
Notable developments include the reinforcement of the lines, fleet renewal, recruitment of new drivers, and the introduction of two university shuttle buses.
Specifically, the metropolitan area saw an addition of 15,582,765 passengers, showing a 40.2% increase from the previous year.
The capital’s urban service saw an addition of almost 4.5 million passengers, reaching 13,891,652 (+46.5%).
The Santa Cruz intercity service recorded a total of 3,080,606 passengers, adding more than one million in 2022, reflecting an increase of 33%.
The urban La Laguna service hosted 1,344,930 travelers (+29.7%), while the interurban service of La Laguna saw a 29.8% increase, with a total of 1,038,031.
Outside the central zone, the southern zone garnered the highest volume of passengers, reaching 16,549,235 (+31%), followed by the long-haul lines with 10,391,128 (+27.5%), and the northern zone with 7,593,756 (+35.5%).
The twenty most utilized lines during 2023 totaled 35,759,595 passengers, accounting for 44.54% of the total users.
Line 014 (Santa Cruz de Tenerife Interchange – La Laguna Interchange for La Cuesta) experienced the most significant increase in passengers last year, registering 1,178,946 more passengers, while line 467 (Costa del Silencio – Los Cristianos – Costa Adeje – La Caleta) added 1,069,889 more travelers compared to 2022.
The urban service line with the most substantial increase in passengers was 905 (Muelle Norte – Ofra) with an additional 709,450 passengers compared to last year.
