His final words were, “You won’t see me again. I’m leaving.” And he did just that. Santiago José, also known as Chago, left behind his phone, keys, identification, and money at home. Since last September, there has been an unrelenting search for him. For four months, his family tirelessly looked for the disappeared young man. “They won’t see me again.” He made good on his word. He was no longer there.

Three months ago, the young woman reached out through this platform, seeking help to find her brother. She retraced Chago’s final movements. They led to a mountain where he perished. His body was found there.
After weeks of receiving false leads that claimed sightings of the young man in a squatter’s house, the family closes the search in the worst way possible. The young man’s remains have been discovered in close proximity to where he was last seen. “On the same mountain… You will always be in my thoughts, little brother,” vows Luz.
